Intern - IOM Development Fund
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. It supports governments and migrants, saves lives, and addresses displacement. The IOM Development Fund, within the Migration Policy Division, provides global resources to assist developing Member States in strengthening migration management capacity through innovative, seed-funded projects.
Job Purpose
This internship within the IOM Development Fund offers talented students and graduates an opportunity to gain practical experience in migration management and international cooperation. The role supports the Fund's operations by assisting with project implementation, monitoring, reporting, and proposal development. Interns will work closely with IOM Country Offices worldwide, gaining exposure to IOM's institutional procedures and project cycle. The purpose is to develop essential skills in project management, communication, and analysis within a multicultural international environment, contributing to the Fund's mission of capacity building for developing Member States.
Responsibilities
Support liaison with IOM Country Offices regarding project implementation, financial status, and adherence to funding criteria. Review and edit financial and narrative reports in coordination with Country Offices for submission to recipient governments. Process project revisions, including duration and results, in collaboration with Country and Regional Offices. Assist in developing project proposals aligned with IOM's Project Handbook and Fund guidelines. Monitor active projects using PRIMA and by coordinating with Country Offices. Contribute to branding, outreach, and public relations activities, including preparing PR materials and updating website content. Assist in revising and updating Fund information sheets, materials, and studies. Draft presentations and reports on the Fund for Headquarters and Country Offices. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Experience in report writing and review is required. Previous experience in an international environment, producing PR materials, and practical experience in multitasking, prioritizing, and working independently are considered assets.
Skills
Proven ability to produce accurate and concise work under deadlines. Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; InDesign and database experience is an asset. Demonstrated interest in global migration challenges. Strong writing, drafting, communication, and report editing skills. Ability to manage challenging timelines. Capacity to understand the organization's structure and portfolios. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
