Job Purpose
This role supports the Head of the Returns and Recovery Unit, reporting to the DTM Coordinator and National Database Officer. The Database and Web Developer is accountable for managing and enhancing the DTM website and its associated web portal. This includes developing new content, designing and deploying web portals, and maintaining code repositories. The position is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance, data integrity, and security of IOM's migration-related web platforms, contributing to the effective management and dissemination of migration data.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include managing and monitoring the DTM website for optimal performance, developing and designing new website content, and creating/deploying a submission viewer web portal. The role involves managing website code on Microsoft Azure Repos, analyzing, modeling, and visualizing data using frameworks like Highcharts, and creating interactive dashboards with BI platforms such as Tableau and Power BI. Additionally, the developer will create SQL queries and stored procedures for data retrieval and processing, support data quality control, and assist in developing data collection tools like ODK. The position also entails developing and revising web-based tools, guiding the website's technical architecture, ensuring compliance with IOM ICT data standards, and performing backup and security procedures to maintain data integrity.
Work Experience
Requires at least 3 years of experience with tools such as Excel, Microsoft Visual Studio (ASP .NET C#), ASP.Net MVC framework, MySQL, and SQL server. Experience with Git and Microsoft Azure Repos is necessary. Proficiency with Tableau, Power BI, Highcharts, and InDesign is advantageous. Experience in Information Management, data management (collection, storage, processing, analysis), and data entry is also required.
Skills
Proficiency in data collection and analysis, particularly in post-conflict settings. Knowledge of Durable Solutions Principles and international frameworks. Technical understanding of protection concepts. Proven research and assessment skills, with the ability to explain complex information. Excellent analytical, computer, and MS Office skills. Mastery of programming languages may be required. Ability to recognize data patterns and trends. Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.
