Job Purpose
The Project Associate (CCCM/Emergency) role supports the implementation and monitoring of project activities within IOM's mandate. This position is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of migration-related services and assistance. The role contributes to IOM's mission by assisting in the coordination of project activities, compiling and analyzing data, and liaising with various stakeholders. The associate will help identify project shortfalls and suggest remedial actions, ensuring that project objectives are met efficiently and effectively. This role is integral to IOM's efforts to provide services and advice to governments and migrants, driving solutions to displacement and promoting orderly migration.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, summarizing, and analyzing project data. Monitor project budgets by verifying fund availability, obtaining necessary approvals, and updating budget information. Serve as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising extensively with internal units and external parties to initiate requests and process administrative actions. Draft status reports, identify shortfalls, escalate issues to supervisors, and propose solutions for delivery gaps. Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and other documentation. Respond to information requests, maintain project files, and organize meetings and training sessions. Participate in meetings to coordinate implementation activities with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Assist in monitoring Implementing Partners (IPs) and report non-compliance. Provide guidance to junior staff and perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and victims of trafficking. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas. Understanding of UN and bilateral donor programming. Familiarity with financial rules and regulations. Fluency in English, French, or Spanish is required, with Spanish proficiency specifically needed for this role.
