Migration Health Nurse

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tunisia faces constraints in providing critical healthcare to migrants. Increased support is vital to bridge service gaps, protect vulnerable populations, and uphold public health until national systems are sufficiently equipped. This role supports these urgent efforts.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for supporting IOM's life-saving healthcare response for migrants in Tunisia, particularly in Zarzis. The incumbent will assist in bridging urgent service gaps and upholding public health priorities by providing essential nursing care and support. The purpose is to ensure vulnerable migrants receive necessary medical attention, including examinations, treatment, and referrals, thereby mitigating health risks and contributing to overall public health until national systems can independently manage these needs.
Responsibilities
Provide general nursing assistance including medical examinations, vital sign checks, and sample collection. Support Tuberculosis management through Directly Observed Treatment Short Course (DOTS) and infection prevention control. Assist with pre-departure procedures, medical movements, and documentation. Liaise with laboratories for timely results and manage sample transport. Offer support and information to migrants regarding health assessments, treatments, and referrals. Assist the medical team with history taking, biodata collection, and ID verification. Maintain universal precautions and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Aid in medical emergency and chronic case management, arrange specialist consultations, and ensure accurate record-keeping and database uploads. Perform medical escort duties and assist with medical supply management and inventory.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience for Bachelor's degree holders, or four years for Diploma holders. Experience in Tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing, or public health is advantageous. Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds is also a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication in Arabic, French, and English. Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. High level of computer literacy, including MS Office suite and web-based systems.
