Childminder (Babysitter)
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a leading UN agency promoting humane and orderly migration. IOM Bangladesh supports migration management and humanitarian assistance, with a significant operation in Cox's Bazar assisting the Rohingya population. This role contributes to the Resettlement Movement Management unit, aiming to enhance communication and knowledge sharing through interpretation and translation services.
Job Purpose
This role is established to support IOM's operational activities in Cox's Bazar by providing essential childcare services. The purpose is to enable beneficiaries' family members or guardians to participate in operational activities, such as resettlement or family reunification processes, by ensuring their children receive safe, nurturing, and age-appropriate care. The position contributes to effective communication and knowledge sharing within the project by facilitating the participation of beneficiaries, thereby supporting IOM's broader mission of assisting people on the move and promoting orderly migration. The role ensures a supportive environment for children while their caregivers engage in critical program activities.
Responsibilities
Provide compassionate, age-appropriate, and safety-sensitive childcare services to beneficiaries' children while their guardians participate in operational activities. Lead basic learning activities and games designed for various age groups, including those related to resettlement or family reunification processes. Safeguard all materials within designated childcare areas, reporting any damage or shortages to operations staff. Maintain a clean and safe childcare environment by tidying up and assisting cleaning staff as needed. Provide children with food and water, ensuring hygienic consumption. Perform other assigned duties as required. Performance will be evaluated based on the quality of childcare, attentiveness to children's needs, compliance with safety and hygiene standards, professionalism, reliability, and positive feedback.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of practical experience working as a Childminder or Babysitter is required. Experience in providing childcare in a multicultural and fast-paced setting is also beneficial.
