Senior Project Associate (community Outreach)-(affiliated Contractor)-(required Number-1)

Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related agency focused on promoting humane and orderly migration. IOM Ethiopia prioritizes migrant rights and well-being through a six-pillar intervention approach, including direct assistance, capacity development, and advocacy. The Protection Unit (PXU) collaborates with government and stakeholders to reduce protection risks and address vulnerable populations' needs. This role supports the Protection Non-emergencies Community Outreach project.

Job Purpose

This role supports the implementation of activities within IOM Ethiopia's Protection Non-emergencies Community Outreach project. The project aims to empower communities to actively protect vulnerable groups, report human trafficking, and reduce irregular migration by challenging harmful norms and attitudes. Through community engagement and behavioral change initiatives, the project facilitates access to alternatives to unsafe journeys. The successful candidate will contribute to enhancing safe migration messaging, supporting community leaders, and fostering a protective environment for migrants and affected populations, aligning with IOM's rights-based approach and commitment to safeguarding vulnerable groups.

Responsibilities

Support the organization and facilitation of community outreach campaigns, including dialogues, roadshows, and info sessions on safe migration, trafficking risks, and available services. Participate in meetings with key leaders and migrant groups to enhance safe migration messaging. Assist in planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring project activities. Compile, analyze, and present project-related data and information, highlighting key issues. Draft status reports, identify delivery shortfalls, and propose corrective measures. Prepare and update project documentation, including correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and statistical tables. Organize and deliver capacity-building workshops. Respond to information requests and maintain project files. Liaise with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Collect and package human-interest stories from the field to showcase program impact. Draft social media content in coordination with the Media and Communication Unit. Contribute creative ideas for project visibility and donor engagement. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Experience liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with migrants, refugees, IDPs, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multicultural setting is advantageous. Experience in community outreach, public affairs, development, or education. Experience in managing and mentoring teams and achieving project objectives.
