Job Purpose
The Project Associate (Protection Information Management) will support the Protection Unit (PXU) in Ethiopia by managing information and data crucial for project implementation and reporting. This role involves developing and implementing data collection tools, ensuring data quality through cleaning and validation, and handling ad-hoc information management tasks. A key responsibility is leading data management for the Migrant Resource and Communication Information System (MRCIS), including data upkeep, profiling, and trend analysis. The position also requires providing essential database, visualization, and SharePoint support to various protection teams and coordinating with other programmatic units within the mission.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include managing the PXU's Migrant Resource and Communication Information System (MRCIS) to ensure high data quality, and adhering to IOM's data management and protection standards. The role involves supporting the PXU team with data collection, protection, management, and analysis needs, including retrieving, compiling, and presenting project-specific data. The Associate will implement and maintain database information systems, assist in automating data validation, and perform data cleaning, analysis, and visualization. They will also contextualize data for non-technical audiences, draft data stories and dashboards, and prepare status reports. Additionally, the role involves responding to information requests, maintaining records, organizing meetings, and training team members and partners on data tools.
Work Experience
Requires previous experience in creating and utilizing data collection and analysis programs/platforms, with expertise in Microsoft Excel, KoboToolbox, PowerBI, and SQL tools. Skills in ArcGIS, Tableau, Python, R, or Adobe Creative Suite are advantageous. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations, and working with vulnerable groups is necessary. Prior experience in international humanitarian organizations is a plus.
Skills
Expertise in Microsoft Excel, KoboToolbox, PowerBI, SQL tools. Skills in ArcGIS, Tableau, Python, R, Adobe Creative Suite are advantageous. Strong statistical analysis and data management skills, including trend analysis. Knowledge of data collection tools, applications, and systems. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals.
