Organizational Context

This role sits within the Migration Health Division (MHD) in Cairo, Egypt, supporting health assistance projects for migrants.
Job Purpose
The Project Assistant – Health is responsible for assisting in the implementation of health assistance projects for migrants within the Migration Health Division. This involves supporting the National Migration Health Project Officer and Medical Coordinator by managing project activities, ensuring timely delivery of services, and maintaining accurate records. The role contributes to IOM's mission of providing essential health services to vulnerable populations, including victims of trafficking, children, and other migrants in need. The position requires meticulous attention to detail in project tracking, reporting, and administrative coordination to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of health assistance programs.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation of health projects by maintaining records, tracking timelines, and preparing progress reports, with a focus on vulnerable groups. Retrieve, compile, and summarize project data. Monitor project budgets by verifying fund availability, obtaining approvals, and updating financial information. Provide administrative support for project implementation, liaising with internal and external parties. Draft status reports, correspondence, and other documentation. Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Respond to general inquiries and maintain project files. Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking. Prior experience in international humanitarian organizations or multi-cultural settings is advantageous. Experience in organizing events and producing related documentation is beneficial. Knowledge of humanitarian medical assistance, healthcare, financial, and administrative management is an advantage.
Skills
Knowledge of migration-related subject areas. Understanding of UN and bilateral donor programming. Project management skills. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel). Experience with spreadsheet and data analysis.
