Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN agency established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. It works with partners to save lives, protect people on the move, and facilitate pathways for regular migration. This role supports IOM's mission in Ireland by assisting with the processing of Temporary Protection applications for Ukrainian Nationals and Third Country Nationals.

Job Purpose

This Caseworker role is crucial for providing essential assistance to Ukrainian Nationals and Third Country Nationals fleeing Ukraine and arriving in Ireland. The incumbent will be responsible for processing applications for Temporary Protection (TP), ensuring a humane and orderly process for vulnerable individuals. This involves direct engagement with applicants, providing information, assisting with documentation, and facilitating their registration and integration. The role directly contributes to IOM's mandate of protecting people on the move and supporting governments in managing migration flows effectively, ensuring that individuals receive the necessary support and guidance during a critical period.

Responsibilities

The Caseworker will provide information on Temporary Protection (TP) to applicants at registration centers and airports, assisting them in completing necessary forms for the Department of Justice and other government bodies. Responsibilities include offering translation and interpretation services, verifying and translating documents from Ukrainian/Russian to English, and identifying potential vulnerable cases to report to supervisors. The role also involves assisting with appointment scheduling, coordinating transport and logistics for arrivals, and maintaining effective working relationships with the Department of Justice and other stakeholders. Additionally, the Caseworker will submit regular reports on work performed, maintain data protection compliance, and provide logistical and administrative support for project activities as needed.

Work Experience

Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is required. Experience in a multicultural setting and with asylum seekers and refugees is also necessary. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government, or government institutions is considered an advantage.

Skills

Key skills include intercultural competence and communication, the ability to mediate and prevent conflicts arising from language or cultural differences impartially, and strong administrative, reporting, and organizational abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) is essential. A Driving License B is considered an advantage.
