Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Project Associate (Shelter) for its operations in Dnipro, Ukraine. This role is crucial for supporting the implementation and monitoring of shelter and building construction/repair projects within the IOM SNFI portfolio, contributing to the organization's humanitarian relief efforts in the region.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate (Shelter) will provide essential support to the IOM SNFI portfolio by assisting in the implementation and monitoring of shelter and building construction and repair activities. This role involves conducting field visits to assess damages, collect information, and monitor work progress. The associate will also assist in preparing technical documentation, supporting procurement processes, and facilitating communication between various stakeholders, including technical teams, management, procurement units, and on-site actors. By ensuring activities align with technical guidelines and standards, and by contributing to accurate reporting, the position plays a vital role in the successful delivery of shelter assistance to affected populations.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of IOM SNFI project activities, ensuring adherence to technical guidelines and SOPs. Conduct field visits to gather information on damages and repair needs in various locations, including collective centers and private residences. Compile Bills of Quantity, Bills of Materials, and other engineering documentation based on national legislation and IOM standards. Support the Procurement Unit by collecting and organizing technical information for Statements of Work and Terms of Reference, and assist in bid analysis and technical evaluations. Monitor on-site work progress through regular visits, documenting completion and reporting deviations. Facilitate communication with contractors and coordinate with technical colleagues, Programme Management, and Procurement Units. Provide data and inputs for regular progress reports, including weekly and monthly reports. Perform other assigned duties as required.
Work Experience
Experience supporting shelter and building construction/repair management, construction engineering, and contract management. Experience in implementing civil design projects and knowledge of relevant codes, policies, and standards are required. Prior experience with humanitarian organizations is advantageous.
Skills
Knowledge of humanitarian relief operations in Ukraine, particularly in the Shelter sector. Excellent communication and coordination skills. Ability to complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner. High attention to detail.
