The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency, is a leading intergovernmental organization dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. Working with partners, IOM addresses migration challenges, provides humanitarian assistance, and facilitates pathways for regular migration. This role is based in Caracas, Venezuela.
Job Purpose
The Communications Associate (Multimedia) will be responsible for managing and creating content for IOM Venezuela's digital platforms, including social media and the website. This role involves capturing and editing high-quality photos and videos, drafting public information materials, and monitoring online activity. The associate will contribute to showcasing IOM's work, engaging with audiences, and supporting communication efforts related to migration programs and activities in Venezuela. The position is for a Special Short-Term contract until December 31, 2026.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include drafting and disseminating content for IOM Venezuela's social media and web platforms, monitoring online activity, and capturing/editing high-quality photos and videos. The role involves assisting in establishing a system for tracking visibility, creating standardized multilingual social media posts, and analyzing audience engagement. The associate will also help translate content, design visuals using graphic design programs in line with brand guidelines, and prepare media monitoring reports. Additionally, responsibilities include responding to beneficiary requests on social media, maintaining internal communications systems, drafting content for reports and press releases, and supporting event organization with audio-visual equipment.
Work Experience
Required experience includes professional use of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn), capturing and editing high-quality photos/videos, and digital/print content production (audio-visual, graphic design, photography, video editing, social media management). Experience with social media analytics is desirable, as is experience in multicultural settings or knowledge of international organizations and humanitarian contexts.
Skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Proficient use of professional photo/video equipment and graphic design software (Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign). High computer literacy. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Familiarity with Venezuela/Americas region is an advantage. Ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
