Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Chad focuses on strengthening community stability through improved access to social services and basic infrastructure. The organization supports community resilience, promotes social cohesion, and enhances conflict prevention and management mechanisms, particularly in northern Chad. This role is situated within this framework, supporting projects in the assigned province.

Job Purpose

The National Project Officer will coordinate IOM projects and programs within their assigned province in northern Chad. Reporting to the Chief of Programs and the Project Manager/Head of Sub-Office in Faya, the role involves providing technical expertise in planning, implementing, and monitoring activities. Key areas of focus include community stabilization, peacebuilding, and conflict prevention, ensuring alignment with IOM strategies and donor requirements. The officer will work closely with other IOM departments and local committees to foster social cohesion and resilience.

Responsibilities

The National Project Officer will support the Project Manager/Head of Sub-Office in Faya with administrative, human, and logistical resource coordination. Responsibilities include planning and implementing project activities, representing IOM, and coordinating interventions within the province. The role involves participating in community-based planning, identifying and prioritizing initiatives with local committees, and providing technical support for community stabilization and peacebuilding programs. This includes developing partnerships, contributing to new project development and contextual analysis, and supporting narrative reporting through data collection and synthesis. The officer will also enhance project visibility and communication of achievements.

Work Experience

A strong background in project management, particularly in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and social cohesion, is essential. Knowledge of the Chadian context, especially the BET region's dynamics, is highly valued. Experience in communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including governments and international institutions, is advantageous.

Demonstrated skills in community stabilization and partner capacity building. Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure. Excellent organizational skills, with flexibility and the capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, detail-oriented team environment.
