Job Purpose
The Programme Development Associate provides specialized support to the Programme Development Unit (PDU) at IOM Norway. This role focuses on research, policy and stakeholder monitoring, AI-enabled information gathering, communications, visibility, media monitoring, and knowledge management. The associate will assist in coordinating partnership and programme development activities by preparing research summaries, briefing materials, stakeholder profiles, funding landscape overviews, and communication products. The ultimate goal is to support evidence-based decision-making and strategic engagement for IOM Norway, contributing to the organization's mission of promoting orderly migration and assisting governments and migrants.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include tracking and compiling information on migration-related developments in Norway, Europe, and internationally, covering areas such as displacement, integration, return, and development cooperation. The role involves monitoring government, parliamentary, policy, donor, academic, media, and civil society sources to support programme development and partnership activities. The associate will assist in preparing stakeholder profiles, partner mappings, funding landscape overviews, and research summaries. Utilizing digital research tools and AI applications like Microsoft Copilot for information gathering, synthesis, and analysis is crucial, requiring effective prompting and verification of AI-generated outputs. The position also involves supporting communications and visibility efforts by drafting and editing content for websites, social media, and newsletters, as well as tracking media coverage. Additionally, the role supports the coordination of meetings, donor briefings, and stakeholder engagements by preparing agendas, notes, and action trackers, while maintaining knowledge management systems and relevant documentation.
Work Experience
Required experience includes supporting research, policy monitoring, and communications; compiling and organizing information from multiple sources for summaries and briefing materials; and using digital tools for research, information management, or communications. Experience with AI-enabled tools for research, synthesis, monitoring, or drafting is also required. Highly desirable experience includes tracking developments from various sources and supporting stakeholder profiles or policy updates. Prior work in international organizations or multicultural settings is an advantage.
Skills
Proficiency in research, writing, and editing. Ability to compile, organize, and present information clearly for diverse audiences. Understanding of communications, visibility, and public information principles. Strong attention to detail for accurate information organization. Advanced digital literacy, including Microsoft 365 and information management tools. Competence in using AI-enabled tools for research, monitoring, drafting, and knowledge management, including prompt engineering, output verification, and awareness of responsible AI practices.
