Job Purpose
The Field Security Assistant will work under the Chief of Mission and National Security Officer, with guidance from the IOM Regional Security Office. This role is crucial for supporting mission safety and security functions. The incumbent will assist in implementing security measures, monitoring security guards, managing security equipment procurement, conducting facility inspections, and administering standard operating procedures for security response. This position contributes to safeguarding IOM staff, assets, and premises by ensuring adherence to security protocols and coordinating with relevant authorities.
Responsibilities
The Field Security Assistant is responsible for assisting in the monitoring and implementation of security measures as per the Security Risks Management (SRM) process and donor requirements. This includes supervising security guards, managing procurement of security equipment, and conducting regular facility inspections, including CCTV checks. The role involves administering Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for calling, information management, and 24/7 security response, as well as maintaining filing systems for keys, valuables, and visitor logs. The assistant will also coordinate with Host Government Security Authorities for mission activities, maintain a database of contact details, support the warden system, and assist in conducting CCTV surveys. Additionally, the role involves liaising with UNDSS and other local security stakeholders, responding to emergencies, reporting security incidents, and supporting security evaluations for staff residences.
Work Experience
Experience with diplomatic security, protection, and intelligence services is considered an asset. Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook is necessary. Strong writing skills in Arabic and English, along with excellent communication skills, are also required.
