Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) implements a Danish-funded project focused on strengthening migration, environment, climate change, and data management capacities in East, West, and North Africa. This role supports the project's commitment to research and innovation by documenting its achievements, good practices, and impacts. The consultant will produce audiovisual and editorial content to enhance IOM's visibility, advocacy, resource mobilization, and knowledge sharing efforts.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this consultancy is to document the results, effects, and impacts of the IOM's project, 'Strengthening capacities in migration, environment, climate change, and migration data management in East, West, and North Africa.' The consultant will play a crucial role in capitalizing on project achievements by producing compelling audiovisual and editorial content. This involves illustrating project accomplishments, observed changes, and beneficiary experiences through photographs, documentary videos, testimonials, and human stories. The role contributes significantly to IOM's visibility, advocacy, resource mobilization, and knowledge-sharing initiatives by providing high-quality communication materials. The consultant will also offer technical support to the project team in developing communication tools related to project outcomes, ensuring adherence to IOM's visibility standards and regional recommendations. This work is essential for showcasing the project's value and informing future interventions.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing a communication content collection plan in collaboration with the project team. Key duties include conducting field missions to project intervention areas to document achievements and impacts, capturing high-resolution photographs of infrastructure, activities, beneficiaries, and observed changes. The role involves conducting video interviews and collecting testimonials from beneficiaries, authorities, and partners regarding the project's effects. The consultant will produce and edit professional videos for various IOM communication platforms, such as websites, social media, events, and institutional reports. Additionally, responsibilities include drafting human stories, success stories, articles, and reports highlighting project results, good practices, innovations, and lessons learned. The consultant will also produce institutional communication materials to promote project achievements and deliver a final report detailing activities, deliverables, and recommendations for future communication and capitalization efforts.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of proven experience in producing videos, photographs, and editorial content for international organizations or development projects is essential. Experience working with IOM is considered an advantage.
Skills
Excellent proficiency in video editing and photo retouching software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Photoshop). Strong storytelling, visual narration, and institutional communication writing skills in French and English. Good knowledge of migration, environment, climate change, and development themes. Organizational skills, autonomy, and ability to work in multicultural environments and meet deadlines. Core competencies include teamwork, achieving results, knowledge management, accountability, and communication.
