Job Purpose
The Case Manager role is crucial for the "Regular Migration Status and Socioeconomic Integration for Migrants" project in Costa Rica. The purpose is to provide direct support to an assigned caseload of migrants, guiding them through the integration process. This involves assisting them in obtaining legal identity, regular status, and access to vital services like housing, healthcare, and education. The role contributes to successful socioeconomic integration by fostering social connections and ensuring migrants are well-informed and supported throughout their journey in the country, aligning with IOM's community-based approach.
Responsibilities
Conduct initial screening assessments to determine migrant needs and integration pathways. Maintain accurate records using MIMOSA and Kobo/Excel systems. Interview individuals to assess situations and explain services. Provide ongoing follow-up and support throughout the integration process. Coordinate cases with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate successful integration or Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR). Analyze cases to identify challenges and appropriate interventions. Liaise with translators for effective communication. Collaborate with other case managers to share best practices. Coordinate with IOM offices in countries of origin for relevant support. Provide community-based accompaniment for access to housing, health, education, and socioeconomic inclusion. Document all case management activities according to IOM guidelines. Conduct travel to implementation areas as required.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of four years of experience working with vulnerable populations. Previous experience in case management within humanitarian settings is essential. Experience in protection activities, coordinating with institutional/UN counterparts, and working with diverse cultural backgrounds is advantageous.
Skills
Excellent writing, systematization, and analytical skills. Ability to multitask, organize, and plan effectively. Strong customer orientation and ability to work independently and in a team. Proficiency in English (B2 level) is required. Fluency in other languages is an advantage.
