Organizational Context

IOM Costa Rica implements a project to support the socioeconomic integration of migrants choosing Costa Rica as their destination. The project facilitates access to legal status, basic services like housing and health, and livelihood opportunities. Activities are community-based within the Great Metropolitan Area (GAM), focusing on areas with high migrant populations. The Senior Project Associate supports the implementation of these integration activities.

Job Purpose

The Senior Project Associate (Social Integration, Housing, Health) plays a crucial role in the IOM Costa Rica project aimed at the successful integration of migrants. This involves supporting migrants in obtaining legal status and accessing essential services, including housing, health, mental health, and psychosocial support. The role also facilitates educational opportunities and skill certification to enhance socioeconomic integration. By employing a community-based approach, the position contributes to fostering social connectedness and supporting migrants' overall integration journey within the Great Metropolitan Area, under the supervision of the Integration Programme Coordinator and National Project Officer.

Responsibilities

The Senior Project Associate is responsible for independently leading and coordinating project implementation, monitoring activities related to social integration, housing, and health, and recommending adjustments based on field conditions. This includes researching and analyzing relevant national and international developments, monitoring budget expenditures, and coordinating administrative and technical aspects of project activities in line with IOM policies. The role involves planning and conducting capacity-building workshops, participating in meetings, and liaising with various stakeholders. Additionally, the Associate will coordinate the preparation of reports, identify best practices, supervise staff, and perform other assigned duties.

Work Experience

Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking is also necessary. Prior work in international humanitarian organizations or multi-cultural settings is considered an advantage.
