Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate (Education, Children and Youth) plays a crucial role in the "Regular Migration Status and Socioeconomic Integration for Migrants" project in Costa Rica. This role directly contributes to the successful integration of migrants by supporting their access to legal identity, long-term regular status, and essential services like housing, food, and healthcare. The position is instrumental in facilitating educational opportunities, including Spanish language learning and skills certification, to enhance employability and socioeconomic integration. By working within IOM's community-based approach, the role aims to foster social connectedness and provide comprehensive support to migrants navigating their integration journey within the Great Metropolitan Area.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate project implementation, focusing on activities related to Education, Children, and Youth, ensuring alignment with established plans and adapting to field realities. Conduct research and analyze national and international developments relevant to the project. Monitor budget expenditures and ensure compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements for project activities. Plan and coordinate capacity-building workshops and participate in relevant meetings. Maintain liaison with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Coordinate the preparation of reports, correspondence, and briefing notes, ensuring timely submission. Document best practices and lessons learned to contribute to SOPs and new project development. Supervise and provide guidance to reporting staff. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking is essential. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multicultural setting is advantageous.
