The Movement Operations Associate facilitates and coordinates migrant and refugee movements, providing direct support to beneficiaries and managing travel processes. This role ensures compliance with IOM standards and acts as a key contact for safe, orderly, and dignified movement operations, supporting various humanitarian initiatives.
Job Purpose
The Movement Operations Associate is responsible for facilitating and coordinating migrant and refugee movements by providing direct support to beneficiaries, managing travel-related processes, and assisting vulnerable individuals. The role ensures compliance with IOM operational and protection standards, serving as a crucial point of contact to guarantee safe, orderly, and dignified movement operations. This position contributes to the successful execution of resettlement, relocation, humanitarian admissions, family reunification, voluntary repatriation, and other emergency initiatives, ensuring the well-being and smooth transit of individuals.
Responsibilities
Undertake beneficiary-facing activities for various movement operations including resettlement, relocation, and humanitarian initiatives. Coordinate field support with relevant units and agencies to ensure safe and appropriate beneficiary movements, providing assistance at airports, transit centers, or facilities, including extended hours and overnight support. Coordinate transportation of beneficiaries, ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of all individuals, especially those with special needs. Assist in the timely provision of essential items and ensure proper handling of sensitive cases, including unaccompanied minors. Process pre-departure formalities like travel documents and exit permits in coordination with external partners. Maintain and update relevant data in systems, reporting issues promptly. Provide support for selection missions and interpretation services. Assist government agencies with visa applicant processing. Uphold RMM Protection Mainstreaming Minimum Standards and IOM Standards of Conduct, reporting any non-compliance.
Work Experience
Prior experience in Movement Operations, transportation-related activities, or management is required. Experience in programs with a movement operations component, particularly resettlement programs, is beneficial. Experience communicating with beneficiaries and handling sensitive personal data is necessary. Airport experience is a distinct advantage.
