Job Purpose
This role is responsible for managing and coordinating supply chain operations for IOM in Italy and Malta. The incumbent will oversee procurement activities, assist in complex purchases, and contribute to the development of procurement plans to optimize purchasing power and support project implementation. The position involves negotiating terms, resolving delivery issues, and providing guidance on procurement procedures. Additionally, it supports asset management, warehousing, transportation, and fleet activities, ensuring efficient and compliant supply chain operations aligned with IOM's mission and objectives.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include coordinating procurement activities, such as processing purchase requests, managing bidding processes, and ensuring timely delivery and payment. The role involves assisting with high-value purchases, developing procurement plans, and negotiating terms with suppliers. Providing technical guidance on procurement procedures and identifying/evaluating local and international suppliers are crucial. The position also supports supply chain functions like asset management, warehousing, transportation, and fleet coordination. Training junior staff, participating in inter-agency meetings, and ensuring compliance with IOM/UN rules are also key duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes procurement and logistics, working with service providers and vendors, and asset management processes. Experience with IOM/UN procurement rules and procedures, working in an international organization, and coordinating teams is advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in computer literacy, ability to work with national and international institutions, strong reporting and judgment skills, staff supervision and coordination abilities, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the capacity to establish realistic resource requirements.
