Job Purpose
The National Project Officer (Integration Programme) supports the overall management of IOM Costa Rica's integration project. This initiative aims to ensure migrants who choose to stay in Costa Rica can successfully integrate by assisting them in obtaining legal identity and regular status. The role involves facilitating access to essential services like housing, food, healthcare, and psychosocial support, alongside educational opportunities such as Spanish language training and skills certification to enhance employability. The project utilizes a community-based approach to foster social connections and support migrants' integration journey within the GAM.
Responsibilities
Assist in coordinating and monitoring the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the Integration Programme, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. Maintain supervisor updates on project progress, identify challenges, and propose solutions. Contribute to work plan development, budget adjustments, and the creation of Monitoring & Evaluation tools. Coordinate data collection, verification, and analysis, updating information systems and social media. Ensure timely preparation and dissemination of project reports. Liaise with donors, partners, UN agencies, local authorities, and government counterparts. Support the planning and delivery of capacity-building activities for staff, partners, and communities. Attend relevant meetings and forums. Participate in proposal development and communication material creation. Supervise and provide technical guidance to project staff. Undertake duty travel for project implementation and monitoring. Perform other related duties as required.
Work Experience
Experience is required in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking is also necessary. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multicultural setting is advantageous.
Skills
Knowledge of migration management. Strong proficiency in Excel. Ability to create databases and interactive data-sharing systems. Skills in coordination, engagement, and workflow creation. Experience in inventory and logistics management. Process and systems oversight. Risk management and compliance. Data analysis and reporting. Fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written).
