Job Purpose
The Project Associate (Housing) role is a G-5 position based in Caracas, Venezuela, on a Special Short-Term contract until December 31, 2026. This role is crucial for the implementation and monitoring of housing projects. The incumbent will support IOM's mandate by contributing to practical solutions for emerging challenges in migration, specifically focusing on housing initiatives. The position requires administrative and programmatic support to ensure the effective delivery of project activities, aligning with IOM's mission to promote orderly and humane migration management and provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, and analyzing project data. Responsibilities include monitoring project budgets, acting as a focal point for administrative coordination, and liaising with internal and external parties. The role involves drafting status reports, identifying shortfalls, and suggesting remedial actions. Additionally, the associate will draft correspondence, prepare reports and documentation, respond to information requests, maintain files, and organize meetings. Participation in meetings with stakeholders, monitoring implementing partners, and providing guidance to junior staff are also key duties. The role may involve other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work in housing infrastructure or improvement, verifying housing conditions, and monitoring housing subsidies or cash assistance. Basic knowledge of residential construction and habitability standards is needed. Previous experience with IOM, the UN, or other international humanitarian organizations is beneficial, as is experience with donor reporting, project cycle management, and coordinating with partners. Familiarity with monitoring tools and the Venezuelan context is also advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in Spanish (oral and written) is required. Working knowledge of English is desirable.
