Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) provides voluntary return counselling to migrants in Berlin and Rhineland-Palatinate through its AVRR project. This initiative aims to empower migrants to make informed decisions about their future by offering unbiased, individual guidance on their options. The role operates under the guidance of senior management and direct supervision of the National Project Manager.

Job Purpose

This role is integral to IOM's AVRR project, offering personal counselling to migrants considering voluntary return. The primary purpose is to equip migrants with comprehensive understanding of their individual options, enabling them to make well-informed decisions. The position emphasizes providing unbiased and objective information regarding return possibilities, reintegration support, and available assistance schemes. By facilitating informed choices, the role directly contributes to the successful and voluntary return and reintegration of migrants, aligning with IOM's mission to promote humane and orderly migration.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive counselling and information on voluntary return options, including objective details on conditions in countries of return and available support. Offer guidance on additional incentives and assistance schemes, and connect individuals with relevant partner organizations, governmental, and non-governmental entities. Initiate support for return and reintegration within IOM Germany's AVRR programs. Liaise with local authorities and participate in coordination meetings. Organize and prepare meetings and events for migration actors. Develop and implement strategies to inform the target group about voluntary return possibilities. Conduct mobile counselling sessions and manage the daily operations of the AVRR Counselling Centre. Handle public relations and information dissemination regarding the centre's work.

Work Experience

Relevant professional experience concerning migration issues, project-related work, and counselling services is required. Knowledge of German and EU institutions and migration policies is an asset. Demonstrated experience with AVRR and previous work with public bodies or knowledge of the AVRR landscape in Germany are advantageous.
