Job Purpose
This Project Associate (Camps) position, based in Caracas, Venezuela, is a Special Short-Term contract at the G-5 grade, initially lasting until December 31, 2026. The role is crucial for supporting IOM's mission in managing migration and assisting displaced persons. The associate will contribute to the effective implementation and monitoring of project activities, particularly within camp settings or temporary accommodations. This involves ensuring that project goals are met, providing essential support to beneficiaries, and maintaining operational efficiency in line with IOM's mandate to protect and assist people on the move.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, retrieving, compiling, and analyzing project-related data. Responsibilities include monitoring project budgets, acting as a focal point for administrative coordination, and liaising with internal and external parties. The role involves drafting status reports, identifying shortfalls, and suggesting remedial actions. The associate will also draft correspondence, prepare reports and documentation, respond to information requests, maintain files, and organize meetings. Participation in meetings with stakeholders, monitoring implementing partners, and providing guidance to junior staff are also key duties. The position requires performing other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Experience is required in humanitarian operations within camps, temporary accommodations, or settlements, including supporting NFI distributions and Shelter activities. Community mobilization, information management, and knowledge of protection principles for displaced populations are essential. Previous experience with IOM, the UN, or other international humanitarian organizations is beneficial, as is experience with donor reporting and coordinating with implementing partners and local authorities.
