Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate (Shelter) role is a G-6 position based in Caracas, Venezuela, on a Special Short-Term contract until December 31, 2026. This role is crucial for the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of shelter-related project activities. The incumbent will contribute to IOM's mission by ensuring the effective delivery of humanitarian assistance and solutions for displaced persons and migrants in need. The position requires strong administrative and coordination skills to manage project execution, liaise with diverse stakeholders, and ensure compliance with project objectives and international standards, ultimately supporting IOM's commitment to orderly and humane migration management.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Associate (Shelter) will be responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities. This includes compiling and analyzing project data, monitoring budget implementation, and proposing adjustments. The role involves acting as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising extensively with internal units and external parties, and drafting status reports, correspondence, and project documentation. The associate will organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and provide support for capacity building. They will also respond to information requests, maintain project files, and participate in relevant meetings. A key responsibility is maintaining liaison with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors, and monitoring implementing partners for compliance. The role also includes providing inputs for SOPs and concept papers, and potentially supervising other staff members.
Work Experience
Required experience includes implementing and monitoring infrastructure, repair, or reconstruction projects in humanitarian or development contexts. This also involves conducting needs and housing damage assessments, supervising construction/repair works, and coordinating with various stakeholders. Experience in preparing technical reports, tracking indicators, and applying Sphere Standards and Shelter/NFI principles is essential. Experience managing field teams and providing technical guidance is also necessary.
