Job Purpose
This role is crucial for the effective operation of the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The Migration Health Nurse will be responsible for executing a wide range of daily nursing activities essential for meeting the technical requirements of resettlement countries. This includes conducting medical examinations, collecting biological samples, managing vaccinations, and overseeing TB management. The position also involves providing clear information and explanations to migrants and refugees regarding the health assessment process and necessary treatments or referrals. Ensuring accurate identification and thorough documentation throughout the health assessment process is paramount. The role contributes to the overall health and well-being of individuals undergoing migration processes, ensuring they receive appropriate care and meet the health standards of destination countries.
Responsibilities
Perform daily nursing activities within the Migration Health Assessment Clinic (MHAC), including vital signs checks, sample collection, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, and treatment referrals. Provide clear information and explanations to migrants and refugees about the health assessment process and treatments. Ensure accurate identification through history taking, biodata collection, and ID verification, maintaining a register of applicants. Adhere to the Health Assessment Programme’s checklists and SOPs, maintaining universal precautions. Monitor and maintain the MHAC pharmacy, stock, and medical kits. Provide pre and post-counselling on TB and HIV prevention and management. Prepare administrative reports and program updates. Support mobile missions and assist with pre-departure preparations. Conduct medical escort duties when required to ensure continuity of care during migration. Maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments, health providers, panel physicians, embassies, and other agencies. Collect and share statistical information as required. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience for Bachelor's degree holders, or five years for Diploma holders, is required. Essential skills include phlebotomy. Experience in TB management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing, or public health is advantageous. Proficiency in clinical nursing, preventive care, disease control, patient safety, and infection control is necessary. Computer literacy with MS Office suite is required; experience with AI tools is a plus.
