Job Purpose

The Consultant Migration Health Nurse will perform daily nursing activities within the Migration Health Assessment Clinic (MHAC). This includes conducting medical examinations, managing TB and HIV, administering vaccinations, and ensuring accurate documentation to meet the technical requirements of resettlement countries. The role also involves educating migrants on health assessment processes and treatments, maintaining pharmacy stock, and potentially assisting with medical escorts and mobile missions. Collaboration with various partners is key to facilitating follow-up and information sharing, ensuring comprehensive care throughout the migration journey.

Responsibilities

Perform daily nursing activities in the Migration Health Assessment Clinic (MHAC), including medical examinations (vital signs, weight, height, visual acuity), sample collection (blood, urine, sputum), imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, TB management, treatment, referrals, and pre-departure procedures. Provide information and explanations to migrants regarding health assessments and treatments. Ensure proper identification through history taking, biodata collection, and ID verification. Adhere to Health Assessment Programme checklists and SOPs, maintaining universal precautions. Manage MHAC pharmacy stock, medical kits, and emergency kits. Provide pre/post-counseling on TB/HIV. Prepare administrative reports and program updates. Support mobile missions and assist with pre-departure preparations. Perform medical escort duties as required. Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners for follow-up and information sharing. Collect and share statistical information.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience for Bachelor's degree holders, or five years for Diploma holders. Excellent technical skills, including phlebotomy, are essential. Experience in clinical nursing, patient safety, and infection prevention and control is required. Computer literacy with MS Office suite is necessary. Experience in emergency care is an advantage.
