Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate is responsible for leading and coordinating the implementation of the labour mobility project in Solomon Islands. Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the implementation of the labour mobility project, monitoring activities and recommending adjustments to work plans based on field realities. Research, compile, and analyze relevant national and international developments, presenting findings to appropriate parties. Monitor budget expenditures, verify fund availability, and maintain accurate financial records. Coordinate and oversee the financial, administrative, and technical aspects of the project in line with IOM policies and donor requirements. Plan and conduct capacity-building workshops and training sessions for internal and external stakeholders. Organize stakeholder meetings and networking events, producing summaries for management decision-making. Liaise with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other relevant organizations. Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, reports, and presentations, ensuring timely submission of status reports. Identify and document best practices and lessons learned, contributing to SOP development and new project conceptualization.
Work Experience
Required experience includes liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking is essential. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous. Direct experience with return migrant workers in Solomon Islands or participation in labour mobility schemes is a significant advantage.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas. Understanding of labour mobility trends in Solomon Islands and the Pacific Region. Familiarity with UN and bilateral donor programming. Knowledge of financial rules and regulations. Fluency in English and Pidgin is required.
