Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related agency established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. This role is situated within the Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta, specifically based in the Campania Region, Italy. The position supports the implementation of Assisted Voluntary Returns and Reintegration (AVRR) activities.
Job Purpose
This role is designed to assist in the implementation of the AVRR project, focusing on Training, Assistance, and Territorial Support for Assisted Voluntary Returns. The incumbent will provide crucial support in counselling migrants and facilitating their voluntary return processes. This involves engaging with local stakeholders, providing information sessions, assisting with application submissions, and coordinating logistical aspects of returns. The purpose is to ensure the efficient and humane execution of AVRR activities, contributing to IOM's mandate of promoting orderly migration and supporting migrants.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining contact with local stakeholders such as municipalities, NGOs, and diaspora groups to support AVRR information dissemination and referral mechanisms. The role involves conducting AVRR information sessions and providing tailored counselling to interested Third Country Nationals. Duties also encompass assisting migrants with application submissions, managing case files, and coordinating with Italian institutions like Police Headquarters and Prefectures for the authorization process. Additionally, the position requires assisting in the logistical arrangements for medical and non-medical returns, collecting data for reporting, and contributing to project success stories.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of experience in the migration sector, with a focus on direct assistance to migrant populations, including those in vulnerable situations. Proven experience working with Italian institutions, civil society, and diaspora groups is essential. Experience in a multicultural team is necessary, and prior AVRR counselling experience is considered an asset.
Skills
Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently, and under pressure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
