Organizational Context
IOM established an office in Ireland in 2001, becoming a full member government in 2002. The Ireland office manages programs in Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration, Resettlement, Family Reunification, Counter-Trafficking, Protection, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). This role supports a project providing Community-Based MHPSS to international protection applicants in Dublin.
Job Purpose
This role supports the International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) project, aiming to enhance the psychosocial well-being and resilience of international protection applicants in Dublin. The incumbent will work under the Senior Cultural Mediation Associate to implement community mobilization and related activities. The project focuses on providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) through Psychosocial Mobile Teams, addressing bio-psychological, socio-relational, and cultural aspects to improve the overall experience of beneficiaries seeking international protection in Ireland.
Responsibilities
Facilitate neutral, accurate, and confidential communication and interpretation between service providers and International Protection Applicants. Assist beneficiaries in understanding administrative procedures and completing necessary forms for the international protection process. Provide interpretation and cultural mediation support to IOM staff and partners to improve service delivery. Identify individuals with vulnerabilities or protection concerns and facilitate referrals to appropriate services. Support MHPSS activities, focus groups, and community engagement initiatives. Contribute to data collection, case identification, and referral documentation through interpretation and mediation. Maintain basic documentation, activity records, and support reporting requirements. Undertake required travel between assigned sites and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Experience in cultural mediation within migrant assistance frameworks is required. Completion of trainings in cultural mediation for mental health settings, with competence in MHPSS specialized vocabulary, is an asset. Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, EU Agencies, or Irish law enforcement/government departments is also advantageous.
