Job Purpose
The Project Associate (NFI) will support the implementation and monitoring of project activities within IOM's operations in Caracas, Venezuela. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of humanitarian assistance and migration-related services. The associate will contribute to the organization's mission by assisting in data compilation, administrative coordination, and reporting, thereby supporting IOM's efforts to manage migration challenges and assist vulnerable populations. The position is for a Special Short-Term contract until December 31, 2026, at the G-5 grade level.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, including retrieving, compiling, and analyzing project-related data. Responsibilities include monitoring project budgets, acting as a focal point for administrative coordination, and liaising with internal units and external parties. The role involves drafting status reports, identifying shortfalls, and escalating issues to the supervisor. Additionally, the associate will draft correspondence, prepare reports and documentation, respond to information requests, maintain files, and organize meetings. Participation in meetings with stakeholders, monitoring implementing partners, and providing guidance to junior staff are also key duties. The position requires performing other relevant tasks as assigned.
Work Experience
Required experience includes supporting shelter, housing, or humanitarian assistance projects, conducting field visits, beneficiary verification, and activity monitoring. Experience in document management, database administration, and engaging with vulnerable communities and local partners is essential. Previous work with IOM, UN, or other international humanitarian organizations is highly desirable, as is experience with donor reporting and project cycle management.
Skills
Proficiency in Spanish (oral and written) is required. Working knowledge of English is desirable. Competencies will be assessed, including teamwork, delivering results, knowledge management, accountability, and communication.
