Job Purpose
This role is responsible for providing reliable and secure driving services for IOM staff and visitors, ensuring safe transportation according to UN security regulations. The incumbent will manage the daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle, ensuring its roadworthiness and timely servicing. The position involves navigating routes efficiently, assisting with airport arrivals, liaising with local authorities for movement facilitation, and maintaining vehicle logs and fuel records. The driver plays a crucial role in operational support by ensuring the safe and timely movement of personnel and goods, contributing to the overall efficiency of IOM's mission in the region.
Responsibilities
Provide secure transportation for IOM staff and visitors using assigned vehicles, adhering to UN safety and security protocols. Manage daily vehicle maintenance, including checks on tires, brakes, oil, and battery, and ensure timely registration, insurance, and servicing. Perform minor repairs and arrange for major ones, keeping the vehicle clean and in good running order. Ensure vehicles are fueled for trips and maintain accurate daily logbooks and fuel receipts for monitoring. Safely deliver and collect goods, mail, and documents as assigned. Handle accident procedures according to local regulations and report any trip-related issues. Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all IOM-related discussions and take measures to mitigate security threats to passengers.
Work Experience
A valid driving license is essential. Candidates should possess adequate knowledge of local traffic laws and routes, proficiency in defensive driving techniques, and prior experience working with IOM or other international organizations is desirable.
