Job Purpose
This consultancy role supports the Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) Unit within IOM Egypt, specifically contributing to the EU-funded project aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of Egyptian border management authorities. The purpose is to assist in implementing capacity-building initiatives, technical assistance, and project management activities related to maritime security, search and rescue, and humanitarian border management. The consultant will play a key role in enhancing the operational readiness, coordination, and institutional capacities of relevant Egyptian counterparts through various project activities, ensuring effective management of migration flows and contributing to the overall objectives of the project and IOM's mandate in Egypt.
Responsibilities
The consultant will assist with IBG activities under the supervision of the Project Officer and National Project Officer. Key responsibilities include supporting the implementation of capacity-building and technical assistance activities, such as training preparation and delivery. The role involves assisting in the preparation, review, and filing of project documentation, and providing administrative and operational support for procurement, contracting, and travel arrangements. Additionally, the consultant will liaise with other IOM staff on administrative and logistical matters, support the organization of meetings, workshops, and events, and assist in monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection and record maintenance. Contributing to the development of program templates and performing other assigned duties, including travel, are also part of the role.
Work Experience
Experience working with Egyptian entities in maritime security, search and rescue (SAR), or border management is an asset. Strong organizational, communication, and reporting skills are essential, along with the ability to coordinate effectively with diverse stakeholders in a multicultural setting.
