IOM Pakistan supports the Government in implementing cross-border programming for Afghan migrants and refugees, aiming to foster peaceful coexistence and address humanitarian needs.
Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant (Operations and Admin Support) G4 role is crucial for supporting IOM Pakistan's cross-border programming for Afghan migrants and refugees. This position contributes to promoting peaceful coexistence between host communities and migrants, addressing humanitarian needs, and reducing protection risks. The role supports anticipatory actions to mitigate crises, save lives and livelihoods, and enable sustainable development transitions. Working under the Protection Coordinator and Protection Officer, the assistant will be instrumental in the operational and administrative execution of protection-related activities, ensuring efficient service delivery and adherence to IOM policies and procedures within the context of the Afghanistan Situation Regional Refugee Response Plan.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive support to the supply chain management of Protection projects, including preparing purchase requests and following up on approvals and necessary supplies. Maintain contact information for government, NGOs, and UN representatives to facilitate coordination and operational duties. Monitor and report programme-related incidents according to IOM policy. Prepare payment requests for partner agencies and service providers, and manage record-keeping for contracts and extensions. Facilitate duty travel arrangements for Protection staff, including booking accommodation and transportation. Assist in organizing Protection events such as trainings, meetings, conferences, and workshops. Liaise with Finance and Procurement Units to follow up on contract renewals, invoices, and payments. Perform other assigned tasks by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Experience in administrative and operational tasks with government, UN agencies, or NGOs is required. Practical field experience in humanitarian action, including support to displaced populations and emergency activities, is advantageous. Understanding of the humanitarian context in Pakistan and familiarity with Protection, GBV, Child Protection, or Afghan refugee issues are considered a distinct advantage.
Skills
Excellent writing and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills for building trust and good working relationships. Capacity for creative thinking. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines. Understanding of IOM policies and procedures is an advantage.
