Job Purpose
This On Call Teacher role in Medan is part of the Refugee Care Unit, contributing to the psychosocial assistance activities for refugees. The incumbent will implement educational activities under the supervision of the Programme Associate. The purpose is to deliver essential educational support, helping refugees acquire knowledge and skills, thereby contributing to their overall well-being and integration. This role is crucial in providing a structured learning environment as part of a broader care program aimed at enhancing protection and supporting sustainable pathways for vulnerable individuals.
Responsibilities
The On Call Teacher will be responsible for conducting regular educational activities across designated service areas as directed. This includes identifying and adapting standard curricula to suit beneficiary capacities. A key duty is establishing mechanisms to monitor the beneficiaries' learning progress and submitting monthly reports to IOM. The role also involves undertaking other assigned duties commensurate with the position, which may include providing clerical support and performing duty travel as required. The teacher will ensure educational activities are integrated into the overall psychosocial assistance framework for refugees in the Medan area.
Work Experience
Experience in teaching in a classroom or tutoring setting is required, with at least four years of experience in teaching the specific subject. Experience liaising with UN, government departments, and international organizations is beneficial. Experience teaching children and conducting multi-grade teaching is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Word, MS Excel, Windows). Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion. Experience in liaising with UN, Government Departments/Authorities, and other international organizations.
