This role is within the DTM (Displacement Tracking Matrix) unit, focusing on analyzing and presenting data related to affected populations and displacement.
Job Purpose
The Reporting and Data Analyst DTM Assistant will analyze and present data from DTM and other emergency assessment activities, focusing on affected populations, mobility, displacement, needs, temporary shelters, and operational gaps. The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to timely, evidence-based decision-making by IOM, national authorities, UN agencies, and humanitarian partners. By ensuring that reports and information products are accurate, coherent, and aligned with DTM standards and IOM reporting requirements, this position directly supports effective humanitarian response and planning in crisis situations. The role is crucial for translating complex data into actionable insights that inform strategic interventions and resource allocation.
Responsibilities
The role involves drafting, coordinating, and quality assuring analytical reports, situation updates, briefs, dashboards, and other information products related to emergency response. Key duties include analyzing and interpreting primary and secondary data from DTM and various assessments, focusing on affected populations, displacement, and needs. The position supports the design and harmonization of data collection tools and reporting templates, ensuring alignment with DTM and IOM standards. It also entails conducting contextual analysis, coordinating with field teams for data validation, and liaising with national authorities, UN agencies, and humanitarian partners on information management matters. Additionally, the role provides technical guidance to colleagues and supports the dissemination of information management tools.
Work Experience
Required experience includes humanitarian information management, assessment, reporting, and data analysis within emergency or crisis response contexts. Experience with DTM, rapid needs assessments, mobility tracking, or displacement analysis is advantageous. Liaising with governmental authorities, UN agencies, and humanitarian stakeholders in multicultural settings is also beneficial. Experience in drafting analytical reports and producing information products for operational audiences is expected.
Skills
Strong analytical, drafting, and editing skills are essential, with the ability to translate complex data into clear findings. Knowledge of DTM methodologies, humanitarian assessment approaches, and information management standards is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary, with knowledge of Excel, Power BI, Kobo/ODK, GIS, or statistical software being an advantage. The ability to produce high-quality reports and visualizations under tight deadlines in emergency settings is also crucial.
