Field Project Coordinator

The Field Project Coordinator is crucial for implementing IOM activities at provincial and community levels, working under the National Project Officer and Senior Project Assistant. This role requires extensive field travel and direct engagement with local authorities and communities.
Job Purpose
The Field Project Coordinator plays a central role in implementing IOM activities at the provincial and community levels in Lao PDR. This position is essential for bridging IOM's Vientiane office with communities in provinces like Oudomxay, ensuring project objectives are met and effective partnerships are maintained. The role involves direct engagement with various stakeholders, including government ministries, local authorities, community leaders, and project beneficiaries. The coordinator ensures that project interventions are delivered effectively, adapted to the local context, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable populations such as women, children, internal and cross-border migrants, and returned nationals. This position is key to achieving IOM's goals in areas like combating trafficking in persons and supporting migrant welfare.
Responsibilities
Serve as IOM Lao’s focal point for capacity building and prevention activities in targeted provinces. Support daily project implementation, coordinating logistics internally and with partners like local government agencies and NGOs. Draft project-related documents in English and Lao. Maintain and update partnerships and data. Assist in preparing notes and activity reports for workshops, trainings, and awareness campaigns. Facilitate translation and dissemination of training manuals and outreach materials. Collect and compile field data for reporting, including survey contributions, training records, and beneficiary feedback. Ensure timely submission of field mission reports, activity reports, and inputs for donor reports. Undertake regular travel for official duties and perform other assigned tasks to support project delivery and IOM operations, adhering to Do-No-Harm principles, gender-sensitive approaches, and safeguarding standards.
Work Experience
Experience in community mobilization and field coordination in rural settings, particularly with vulnerable groups like women and children. Experience in areas such as Trafficking in Persons (TIP), gender-based violence, or child protection is advantageous. Experience coordinating with provincial government counterparts and local stakeholders is important. Familiarity with ethnic minority communities and cultural sensitivities is an asset. Experience preparing training materials and supporting monitoring and evaluation activities is desirable.
Skills
Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills for sensitive engagement with diverse groups. Ability to coordinate multiple field activities with minimal supervision. Understanding of protection principles, Do-No-Harm, safeguarding, and gender sensitivity. Excellent organizational and communication skills, including report writing. Proficiency in Lao language is required; knowledge of local ethnic languages is a significant advantage. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and perform under pressure. Strong attention to detail and a results-oriented approach.
