Senior Project Assistant (labour Migration)
Organizational Context
IOM Malaysia's Migration, Business and Human Rights (MBHR) programme partners with the private sector to combat modern slavery and forced labour. This role supports projects aimed at enhancing ethical practices.
Job Purpose
This role supports IOM Malaysia's Migration, Business and Human Rights (MBHR) programme by facilitating partnerships with the private sector to combat modern slavery and forced labour. The purpose is to contribute to reducing risks of migrant trafficking, exploitation, and forced labour within companies' operations and supply chains. This involves developing and delivering capacity-building initiatives and training for private sector entities on fair recruitment, human rights due diligence, and improved working conditions, ultimately strengthening the protection of migrant workers.
Responsibilities
Provide project assistance in planning, coordination, and implementation of activities, collaborating with staff and authorities. Coordinate training preparation and delivery, including field visits and workshops for companies and government officials. Monitor project progress, report on implementation and budget flow, identify issues, and propose solutions. Draft status reports, identify shortfalls, and suggest corrective actions. Conduct research, analyze information, and prepare briefings and presentations on labour migration. Participate in meetings, maintain liaison with stakeholders including government, private sector, and NGOs. Respond to information requests and manage project files. Assist in designing programmatic initiatives and writing project proposals. Provide guidance and training to other staff members.
Work Experience
Previous experience is required in areas such as migration, labour issues (including labour migration), international labour recruitment, corporate social sustainability, social compliance programs, human rights, or socio-economic development.
Skills
Proficiency in MS Office applications. Demonstrated ability to conduct research. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Pro-active, results-oriented, organized, with strong communication skills.
