Job Purpose
This role supports IOM China's strategic engagement with private sector actors in Hong Kong SAR, aiming to develop and manage high-value partnerships. The objective is to mobilize flexible funding, promote responsible business practices, and contribute to IOM's strategic plan. The position will assist in identifying, mapping, and prioritizing new private sector prospects, expanding existing partnerships for strategic and financial growth, and implementing a comprehensive private sector outreach and fundraising strategy aligned with global and regional priorities. The role also involves strengthening cross-thematic private sector engagement and delivering initiatives that provide technical guidance to partners on migration-related issues.
Responsibilities
The National Private Sector Engagement Officer, reporting to the Chief of Mission in China and coordinating with Hong Kong Sub-Office and Regional Office, will support strategic engagement with private sector entities in Hong Kong SAR. Key responsibilities include implementing IOM's Global Private Sector Strategy through outreach and relationship management, identifying and prioritizing new prospects in collaboration with Headquarters, and contributing to a private sector outreach and fundraising strategy for Hong Kong. The role involves maintaining a donor database, strengthening cross-thematic engagement, and assisting in preparing proposals and partnership materials. The officer will also participate in private sector forums, monitor KPIs, build synergy with mainland China engagement, support regional efforts, and perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes contributing to private sector partnership development and resource mobilization. Understanding of the Hong Kong and mainland China context, with a proven track record in private sector partnerships in Hong Kong, is essential. Experience in handling CSR programs, identifying private sector opportunities, managing relationships across sectors, and working cross-functionally is also necessary. Fundraising and donor engagement experience within an international organization or UN context is preferred.
Skills
Key skills include demonstrated influencing abilities for engaging high-level stakeholders, and the capacity to meet fundraising targets and negotiate high-value partnerships. The role requires the ability to reconcile organizational needs with partner requirements, draft and edit reports and donor correspondence, and explain complex issues effectively. Developing a Unique Value Proposition for private sector partners is also a required skill.
