Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of IOM personnel and goods within Caracas, Venezuela. As a Driver (4 vacancies), you will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and security of assigned vehicles. Your contribution is vital to the logistical support of IOM's operations, ensuring that staff and resources can reach their destinations reliably and securely. This position supports the broader mission of IOM by facilitating the movement of people and materials necessary for providing assistance and implementing migration management strategies.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to drive assigned IOM office vehicles safely and efficiently. This includes managing the daily maintenance of the vehicle, ensuring it is in good working order by checking tires, brakes, oil, and other essential components. The role involves organizing minor repairs, keeping vehicles clean, and ensuring regular maintenance schedules are met. Accurate record-keeping of vehicle spare parts and monthly inventory are required. Drivers must identify the most direct and safe routes, ensure vehicles are used solely for official purposes, and maintain daily logs and monthly reports detailing mileage and fuel consumption. A high degree of confidentiality and discretion is expected, along with vigilance to mitigate potential security threats to personnel and property.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required if holding a high school diploma. Experience in performing minor vehicle repairs and familiarity with using communication tools like radio, email, and telephone are beneficial. A strong understanding of driving regulations and experience with diverse vehicle types is expected.
