Job Purpose
This role supports the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in its mission to promote humane and orderly migration. The position contributes to the effective delivery of IOM's services and advice to governments and migrants by ensuring efficient procurement and logistics operations. The incumbent will assist in managing supply chain activities, including procurement processes, asset management, and coordination with partners. This role is crucial for optimizing purchasing power, facilitating project activities, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services, thereby supporting IOM's mandate in addressing migration challenges and providing humanitarian assistance.
Responsibilities
The Senior Supply Chain Associate (Logistics) is responsible for coordinating and supporting procurement activities, including the revision of purchase requests, managing bidding processes, and ensuring timely supplier payments. This role involves assisting with complex purchases, developing procurement plans, and participating in negotiations. The associate will provide technical guidance on procurement procedures, identify and evaluate suppliers, and contribute to tracking contracts and agreements. Additionally, the position supports supply chain operations for property and asset management, warehousing, transportation, and fleet activities. Coordination with other UN agencies, partners, and government authorities is essential, as is the maintenance of procurement files and reporting. The role also includes training and supervising junior staff and actively participating in inter-agency supply chain forums.
Work Experience
Required experience includes procurement and logistics, working with service providers and vendors, and asset management processes. Experience with IOM/UN Procurement and Logistics Rules and Procedures, working in an international organization in a multicultural setting, and training/coordinating teams are advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in computer literacy, ability to work with national and international institutions, report writing, sound judgment, staff supervision, administrative coordination, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and resource requirement assessment. Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) is required.
