Job Purpose
The Finance Assistant role is crucial for supporting IOM's financial operations in Caracas, Venezuela. This position contributes to the organization's mandate of promoting humane and orderly migration by ensuring accurate and efficient financial management. The assistant will handle data input, respond to financial queries, assist with payroll processing, and verify payments and vendor requests, ensuring compliance with IOM's financial policies. This role supports the overall delivery of IOM's services and humanitarian assistance to migrants and displaced persons, contributing to the organization's mission.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include inputting financial data into systems, responding to accounting and financial queries, and assisting with payroll validation. The role involves reviewing payment requests for proper authorization and supporting documentation, creating and verifying vendor accounts in PULSE, and ensuring claims align with policies and received goods/services. The Finance Assistant will also prepare receipt and journal vouchers, support the generation of financial reports, provide assistance with staff travel and expense claims, and maintain organized financial records. Additionally, the position is responsible for managing the office's petty cash and performing other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is essential. Previous experience with SAP is a significant advantage. The role requires attention to detail, methodical organization, discretion, and a client-oriented approach. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is beneficial.
