Job Purpose
This internship aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration and climate action. The intern will support the Climate Action Regional Thematic Unit (CAD RTU) by researching climate risks, policy developments, and thematic issues. The role involves contributing to training materials, organizing events, and assisting with IOM's engagement in international climate change conferences. The intern will gain practical experience in an international UN setting, understanding IOM's work on climate adaptation, resilience, disaster risk reduction, and the integration of human mobility into climate policies. This position offers hands-on experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and policy development within the UN system.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the CAD RTU by researching regional climate risks, policy developments, and emerging thematic issues to inform guidance notes and analyses. Responsibilities include contributing to the preparation of training materials, presentations, and knowledge products, as well as assisting in the organization of webinars and workshops. The role involves supporting IOM's engagement in international climate change conferences (COP17, COP31) by preparing background materials and coordinating inputs. The intern will also assist in tracking project progress, managing incoming requests, coordinating with Country Offices and partners, and supporting the unit's smooth functioning. Additionally, the intern will prepare talking points, briefs, and background notes for meetings and partner engagements related to climate action.
Work Experience
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in climate change, migration, and sustainable development are considered a distinct advantage. Experience with standard office software packages, including MS Word and Excel, is also beneficial.
Skills
Excellent English drafting and communication skills are required. The ability to organize and complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities is essential. Knowledge of migration topics such as human mobility, climate change, and climate adaptation is advantageous.
