The ICT Department supports IOM's mandate through technology, with a growing focus on data and analytics. This role is within the Data, AI and BI Unit, contributing to the enterprise-wide data ecosystem built on Microsoft Fabric.

Job Purpose

This ICT Associate (Data Engineer) role supports IOM's digital transformation and evidence-based programming by enhancing its data capabilities. The position is crucial for integrating diverse data assets into the central Microsoft Fabric platform, ensuring data is secure, high-quality, and scalable. Working under the ICT Officer (Data Analyst), the associate will help identify and integrate relevant data, enabling better decision-making, operational efficiency, and the design of migrant-focused services. The role is key to making data actionable and supporting the organization's strategic use of technology.

Responsibilities

The ICT Associate (Data Engineer) will design and implement data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure tools, including data pipelines, analysis, and visualization. Responsibilities include developing and optimizing ETL/ELT processes, collaborating with analytics teams, and ensuring data integrity, security, and governance within Microsoft Fabric. The role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing analytics solutions and data pipelines for performance and cost efficiency, including managing capacity unit utilization. Additionally, the associate will configure data gateways, facilitate solution adoption, and perform other assigned duties to support data integration and analytics initiatives.

Work Experience

Required experience includes proven expertise in data engineering, data warehousing, API development, and ETL processes. This hands-on experience is essential for the successful execution of the role's responsibilities.

Skills

Proficiency in data warehousing technologies, Azure, data API, ETL processes, Python, and data engineering tools (SQL, Hadoop, Spark). Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. Experience in project management, data quality assurance, and system security is also noted.
