The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related organization dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. This role operates under the Chief of Mission and Chief Migration Health Officer, with technical guidance from the IOM Teleradiology Center.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to process screening X-rays for refugees and immigrants within the IOM Health Assessment Programme. The Radiographer will be responsible for capturing high-quality chest X-ray images according to IOM and international standards, ensuring accurate patient identification and data entry. This position contributes to the health assessment process by providing essential diagnostic imaging, supporting the organization's mandate to promote orderly migration and assist migrants. The role involves direct patient interaction, technical image acquisition, and adherence to strict quality and safety protocols, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the health assessment workflow.
Responsibilities
Capture high-quality chest X-ray images for migrants, adhering to IOM and international standards, and specific resettlement country requirements. Explain procedures to applicants, prepare equipment, and ensure accurate patient identification and data entry. Apply proper radiographic techniques and radiation protection measures, including shielding for all patients and pregnant women. Process digital images, review quality, and report urgent findings to radiologists. Contribute to maintaining high-quality X-rays through quality assurance, checking technical quality, and training staff. Ensure radiation safety for patients and staff, wearing personal monitoring badges and communicating with authorities as needed. Maintain and troubleshoot CR/DR X-ray machines, coordinating with technical service providers. Optimize workflow by improving standard operating procedures, ensuring timely processing and delivery of images. Prepare daily worklists, upload images, and generate statistical reports. Coordinate radiology re-reading workflows with radiologists and Teleradiology Centers, providing reports to panel physicians. Implement infection control measures and maintain a clean work environment. Suggest improvements for radiological procedures and perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Requires three years of experience in radiography, specifically with chest X-rays. Must have knowledge of radiographic techniques, procedures, radiologic safety, and quality management. Experience with digital machines, radiology information systems, and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) is needed. Experience in screening chest X-rays and Health Assessment Programs is essential.
