Supply Chain Associate
Organizational Context
Established in 1951, IOM is a UN-related organization and the leading UN agency in migration. It collaborates with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to promote humane and orderly migration. The Supply Chain Associate role supports IOM Algeria's projects by performing administrative functions in procurement, logistics, and common services, reporting to the Resources Management Officer and Supply Chain Officer.
Job Purpose
The Supply Chain Associate plays a crucial role in supporting IOM Algeria's various projects through efficient administrative functions in procurement, logistics, and common services. This position contributes to the organization's mission of promoting humane and orderly migration by ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. The associate will manage routine administrative tasks, assist in procurement processes, maintain records, and coordinate with vendors and internal units. By ensuring smooth supply chain operations, the role directly supports IOM's ability to save lives, protect people on the move, and facilitate pathways for regular migration, thereby strengthening the organization's overall effectiveness and impact.
Responsibilities
The Supply Chain Associate is responsible for managing procurement requisitions, verifying compliance, and assisting with complex purchases. Duties include preparing tender documents, soliciting bids, conducting bid analysis, and preparing purchase orders and contracts. The role involves monitoring open requisitions, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services, and coordinating with receiving units. Responsibilities also include reviewing vendor invoices, preparing payment requests, and coordinating timely payments. Maintaining procurement records, conducting market surveys to identify new suppliers, and managing contractual agreements are key tasks. Additionally, the associate will provide guidance on procurement procedures, perform supply chain tasks related to asset management and warehousing, coordinate fleet operations, prepare tax exemption documentation, and support meeting organization.
Work Experience
Required experience includes procurement and logistics, working with vendors and service providers, and asset management processes. Experience with IOM/UN Procurement and Logistics Rules and Procedures, and working in an international organization, are considered advantageous.
Skills
High level of computer literacy; ability to work with national and international institutions; ability to prepare clear and concise reports; excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to establish realistic resource requirements.
