The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a leading intergovernmental organization dedicated to humane and orderly migration. The IOM Country Office for Austria analyzes national migration issues and implements projects through various units, including Labour Mobility & Social Inclusion and Counter-Trafficking. This internship offers a placement within these key units in Vienna.

Job Purpose

This internship program aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration-related fields to support the IOM Country Office for Austria. The intern will contribute to the implementation of integration and counter-trafficking projects, gaining practical experience in project activities, event organization, research, and administrative support. The role is designed to provide valuable exposure to IOM's operational challenges and advance understanding of migration issues, while upholding the well-being and human rights of migrants. Responsibilities

The intern will primarily support the Labour Mobility & Social Inclusion (LMI) and Counter-Trafficking (CT) units in implementing integration and counter-trafficking projects. Key duties include providing administrative and organizational support for trainings and workshops, assisting in drafting and editing project-related documents and newsletter articles, and supporting translation and proofreading of project materials. The role also involves attending meetings and conferences, taking minutes, assisting in event and travel organization, and conducting research activities. Additionally, the intern will support the execution of virtual trainings and perform other assigned duties to contribute to the units' objectives.

Work Experience

Interns should have less than two years of relevant working experience. Prior work experience with an international organization is considered an asset.

Skills

Excellent oral and written command of German and English is required. Proficiency in other languages is an asset. Strong social and intercultural skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong personal commitment are essential. Affinity for IT and competent handling of virtual events are considered assets. Knowledge of migration and asylum governance in Austria and the EU is also beneficial.
