Senior Project Associate
Organizational Context

Job Purpose
This role provides crucial technical input and guidance to support IOM Bulgaria's mission. The primary purpose is to assist in the development of concept notes, project proposals, strategies, and contingency plans that address emerging operational challenges. The position also plays a key part in enhancing the Mission's capacity building initiatives, supporting overall project development efforts, and ensuring accurate donor reporting. By contributing to these areas, the role directly supports IOM's mandate to promote humane and orderly migration and provide essential services to governments and migrants.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Associate is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing IOM Bulgaria's capacity building programs, including training events for national institutions and NGOs on various migration-related topics. This involves coordinating agendas, managing logistics, and preparing necessary materials such as presentations and analyses. The role facilitates cooperation with diverse stakeholders, including public authorities, academia, NGOs, and migrant communities, to foster partnerships in migration management. Key duties include preparing reports on capacity building activities and partnership development, proposing new initiatives, and providing technical input for concept notes and project proposals. The associate also supports donor reporting by consolidating and analyzing program data and prepares communication materials for public events and emergency situations.
Work Experience
Required experience includes coordinating with program units and establishing working relations with government counterparts and UN agencies. Previous experience in an international organization, knowledge of migration issues, and familiarity with program funding mechanisms are advantageous. Experience in program development, project monitoring and evaluation, and developing/implementing training programs is essential. Proficiency in computer skills, including databases and Microsoft applications, is also necessary.
