Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. It collaborates with partners to save lives, protect migrants, and facilitate pathways for regular migration. The Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM) in Kazakhstan, established in 2022, monitors displacement and population mobility, adapting IOM's Global Displacement Tracking Matrix methodology.
Job Purpose
This role supports the IOM's Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM) program in Kazakhstan, funded by the European Union, through the Return Migrant Survey (RMS). The primary purpose is to collect data across Kazakhstan to enhance the understanding of returned migrants' socio-economic profiles, needs, and future intentions. By systematically capturing and processing information on population mobility, the MTM program aims to provide better insights into the movements and evolving needs of various mobile populations. This data collection is crucial for informing IOM's strategies and interventions to support migrants and contribute to sustainable development and livelihood planning.
Responsibilities
The enumerator will conduct face-to-face individual interviews with returned migrants, ensuring data accuracy and completeness. This includes conducting follow-up interviews, taking photos with consent, and developing at least one narrative story of a returned migrant. Compliance with IOM guidelines, code of conduct, and data protection principles is essential, including respecting privacy and obtaining informed consent. The role involves participating in training, developing fieldwork plans, coordinating with supervisors, and ensuring all necessary equipment is prepared. Additionally, the enumerator will establish relationships with community focal points, validate information, keep detailed records of daily activities, and submit completed surveys via KOBO, ensuring correct data upload.
Work Experience
Requires at least two years of experience in conducting community and household assessments and surveys. Knowledge of the relationship between migration and development is necessary. Experience working with international organizations or UN agencies is an advantage.
