Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The Senior Finance Associate is responsible for providing procedural guidance and supervising, mentoring, and training finance support staff. This includes managing financial resources by monitoring and controlling assets, reserves, funds, and supplies in accordance with IOM regulations. The role involves offering specialized technical support to project managers and mission leadership on financial and administrative issues. Key duties include assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and revisions, estimating various operational costs, and ensuring compliance with IOM financial policies. The associate will consolidate financial data, contribute to financial statements, monitor expenditures against approved budgets, and provide regular financial information for decision-making. Responsibilities also extend to managing bank reconciliations, processing payroll with validity checks, ensuring payments are properly authorized and supported, and reviewing vendor accounts. Additionally, the role supports audit responses and the implementation of audit recommendations, contributes to financial reporting, and performs other related tasks as assigned.
Work Experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage documentation methodically are essential. Experience within international humanitarian organizations, NGOs, or governmental institutions in a multicultural environment is an asset. A good understanding of financial management, accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting is necessary.
